The Sandymount Media Center provides a variety of resources for students, teachers, and parents. These resources can be accessed through our Destiny catalog, both at school and at home. Students also have access to Sora to checkout eBooks. The media center is also home to our TV studio, home to WMUNK News. WMUNK News is our morning show produced by fifth grade students and directed by Sandymount's Media Specialist, Ms. Boggs. Students who visit the media center are engaged in a variety of activities designed to strengthen their research, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Media lessons also promote the love of reading and life long learning.
Kindergarten students visit the media center for two 30 minute classes each week. All other students have media for 30 minutes each week. Teachers may also bring students to media for research, media production, or book selection. Media lessons are taught in collaboration with classroom teachers as much as possible.
